PANAH: A Low-Impact Modular Dwelling
PANAH is a modular research habitat situated in Vancouver’s North Shore rainforest that investigates how architecture can inhabit ecologically sensitive landscapes with minimal presence. The project employs elevation, modularity, and reflective materiality to reduce ground disturbance and visually dissolve the building into the forest, while a continuous green roof addresses avian safety and reinforces canopy integration. Programmatic elements for living, research, and observation are distributed across discrete volumes, framing occupation as a suspended condition within the landscape rather than an imposition upon it.
